Boys Lacrosse Beat #11 El Toro in 2018 Opener

This past Saturday the unranked Woodbridge Warriors defeated Non-League opponent El Toro High School Chargers at El Toro. The Chargers, ranked #11 in Orange County by MaxlaxOC hosted the weekend contest for the first non-league game of the 2018 season for both teams.

The Warriors scored first after Junior Matthew Chung turned the corner to beat El Toro Senior keeper AJ Sheerer midway through the first quarter.

El Toro answered pushing transition, as middie AJ Paglialonga placed a well shot goal on Woodbridge goalie James Nakano. El Toro would take the lead with 1:21 left in the first off a quick move from Junior midfielder Mike McCarty.

In the second, Woodbridge Senior Parker Haw equalized the game with the only goal of the quarter beating multipule defenders to the net.

In the third, Haw scored his second goal of the game to put Woodbridge back in front. Two minuets later, Charger attackman Nima Moniri would tie the game beating a Woodbridge slide. With three minuets left in the third, Chung would score off a pass from Junior attackman Nick Krolikowski to re-take the lead.

In the fourth, Haw made it a hat-trick off another great look from Krolikowski to bring the Warriors lead to 5-3; the largest of the game. The Chargers would add pressure on the Warriors with a quick shot from Senior midfielder Anthony Priolo off a pass from Paglialonga with 7:06 left.

The Warrior defense would close out the win allowing El Toro only three shot opportunities with strong efforts by Sophomore defenders Alex Clayton and Brynden Cabreros. Both of whom combined for almost ten ground balls for the game.

The Warriors play Dana Hills High School Wednesday night at Dolphin Stadium at 530pm.
